A beautiful antique side board from the Austrian 17th century in need of some love and care. A large collection of books to be displayed. A modern midcentury interior style with a bohemian touch. 

First the side board was handed over to the care of a professional for proper restoration. The challenge was to design a bookcase that would blend in the existing interior style and at the same time a new piece of furniture that would stand out and act as a framework for the beautiful side board. 

After exploring several options, the choice for the new design was a combination of two variants. A clean and modern bookcase, full height and almost full width of the room. With some practical closed storage space and a lot of open display space. But most of all, blending in the existing interior as a neutral piece and at the same time making the antique side board stand out by contrast and framing.
