a teenager's room in cool colours

When a big girl becomes a  little woman, you know it’s time to upgrade her room. Preparing for high school, change of interests and a new phase of live. Personal taste and functional storage solutions are key while designing a teenager’s room. In this case it was all about cool colours.

When a child grows into a teenager a lot of things change. Some for the best, while other.. well, let’s say it’s an interesting phase of life 😉

In this case this little woman had a clear vision:

  • A big wardrobe for all her clothes
  • A large mirror to admire herself in
  • Lot’s of space for her precious items and art work
  • Cool colours, such as beige, white and baby blue
  • A big desk for all her art&crafts projects. Ah yes, and for homework too 😉

By repeating furniture style and curtains like in the other rooms of this house, harmony is created. The choice of colour and a clear place to express her personal taste is what makes this room HER room.

By keeping the floor (beautiful natural oak) and the in-between curtains (linen look) neutral, there was room for personal accents through colour. Her choice of baby blue resulted in baby blue blackout curtains and a matching wall colour.

The desk drawers are designed with the same look as the wardrobes. The oak desk top provides a touch of warmth and creates a large desk for creative moments.

Plenty of space for books and other personal items is provided by the open bookcases.

When your client is inviting you back to see the result of your project and you find the teenager’s room tidy and in full use, you know the design works for her!

It means she feels at home.
